Turnovers and penalties plagued the Alice Coyotes junior varsity football team in a 30-0 loss to Calallen Thursday night in Memorial Stadium. Defensively, players like Louie Perez, Steve Villarreal and Josh Garcia provided a spark for the Coyotes’ defense, making a handful of key stops. The offense, however, was unable to sustain a drive for most of the game. The defense played with their backs against the wall most of the night. Going into the half, Calallen led 14-0. The defense did apply pressure to the quarterback with Kyle Markham and Zach Rodriguez.
