AHS senior scores twice in G-P game

The Coyotes couldn't have hoped for a better individual effort from one player. Alice High School senior Mateo Gonzalez did it all in the Coyotes' 37-24 loss to the Gregory-Portland Wildcats Friday night.

It began with the opening kickoff, which Gonzalez ran back for a 90-yard touchdown return.

Then in the fourth quarter when Alice needed a spark to get back in the game, Gonzalez provided it with a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown.

n Alice High School sophomore Chelsea Arredondo had a complete volleyball game against the West Oso Lady Bears Saturday afternoon.

Arredondo led the team in assists, had two kills and one ace. Kim Rea paced the team in kills with six and junior Elyssa Manrique led the team with nine digs. Also racking up digs were Ashley Arrellano and Menlanie Menchaca, who each had seven digs.

Alice (1-21/0-1) lost the game 7-25, 13-25, 14-25.
