• The Corpus Christi Calallen High School baseball Booster Club invites the public to the 2009 Meet The Wildcats event, which includes the Wildcat Skills and Drills Clinic and Home Run Derby, on Saturday,?Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. The clinic is followed by the annual Wildcat Alumni baseball game at 5 p.m. A silent auction begins at 9 a.m. to 5?30 p.m. The booster club will also have a concession stand and will selling memberships, t-shirts, hats and other items for the upcoming season

• Alice American Little League is registering players every Saturday until Feb. 21 at the Alice Optimist Field from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for players ages 8 to 16. • The First South Texas Cobras Valentine’s Baseball Bash is registering teams for their upcoming tournament at Oso Pony League in Corpus Christi on Feb. 14-15. The tourney is open to teams in divisions Tee-Ball, 7-8U, 9-10U and 11-12U. Entry fee is $250 per team for 11-12U, $225 for 9-10U, $200 for 7-8U and $175 for Tee-Ball. Prizes will be awarded for first and second place teams and a Home Run Derby will also be held. KICKBALL

•  Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco Little Miss League Kickball is currently registering players ages three to 18 for the upcoming season through Feb. 13 at Las Brisas every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Fee is $30 per player or first child, $20 for second sibling and $15 thereafter. • The Alice Little Miss Kickball League is registering players for the upcoming spring season from Saturday to Feb. 3. FLAG FOOTBALL

•  The First Spring Break 8-on-8 Flag Football tournament is scheduled for March 14-15 at the Rob and Bessie Welder Park in Sinton. The tourney is open to players ages 14 and older. Entry fee is $200 per team and is a double elimination format. Deadline to enter is March 7. VOLLEYBALL

• Texas A&M-Kingsville and head volleyball coach Shannon Alvarado will hold volleyball tryouts for the 2009 season Saturday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m. in the Steinke Center. Registration begins at 3 p.m. and tryouts are from 4-6 p.m.

The following criteria must be met before tryouts:

•  Prospective players need a current physical taken within the last six months. If they have not received a physical they will not be able to participate. The physical form must be turned in by Feb. 13 to Coach Alvarado's office.

•  Must be a full-time student for Fall '08 and Spring '09 semester at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

•  If a player has failed a class at Texas A&M-Kingsville in the past year they are ineligible to walk on.

•  Volleyball staff will perform all evaluations while current team will demonstrate drills.

•  There is no specific number of players the coaching staff is looking for, but they are looking for players that can handle the rigors of NCAA Division II volleyball and contribute to the program.

•  Clearinghouse registration with the NCAA is preferred for incoming freshmen.
