Calallen's Jeramie Marek was named the Built Ford Tough/Dallas Cowboys Texas High School Football class 4A Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 30..
The senior quarterback rushed for 215 yards on 15 carries and scored three touchdowns in the Wildcats' 51-12 win over Gregory-Portland in Week 4.
Marek also connected on nine of 20 passes for another 173 yards, despite playing only three quarters in the Sept. 28 game.
In addition to his 401 all-purpose yards, Marek also picked off a pair of passes while playing cornerback.
Marek, a star on Calallen's baseball team, also has a 4.3 grade point average on a five-point system.
"Jeramie is a gifted athlete and a natural born leader," said Calallen head football coach Phil Danaher. "He leads through his positive attitude and is always encouraging his teammates and schoolmates. We lost a three-year starter last season and he has stepped right in and done a great job."
The Built Ford Tough/Dallas Cowboys Texas High School Football Player of the Week program honors one student-athlete in six of the state's athletic classifications every week during the high school football regular season for his accomplishments on and off the field.
High school football fans can nominate players for the award each week by visiting www.TexasFord.com or www.coachjad.com. They may also obtain nomination forms at their local Ford dealer. Players should be nominated for on-field performance, leadership, academic performance and community citizenship.
