KINGSVILLE – The Lady Coyotes aren’t going to see the state playoffs, but they beat a playoff team Tuesday.

Three Kingsville errors in the fifth inning led to three runs for Alice and the Lady Coyotes handed the Lady Brahmas their first district loss this season with a 4-3 road victory.

It was the first District 31-4A?loss for Kingsville. It was only their fourth loss of the season. Barbie Ochoa suffered the loss despite dominating the Lady Coyotes with 12 strikeouts, but was hampered by four errors in the game.

Melanie Menchaca was the winning pitcher for Alice despite no strikeouts.

Sebrina Gonzalez and Marissa Martinez had a hit each, including a triple by Gonzalez, for the only two Alice hits. Ochoa had the Lady Brahmas only two hits, both singles.

Alice led 1-0 after the third, but Kingsville scored two runs in the fourth to take the lead.

The Lady Coyotes added the three unearned runs in fifth and a late rally by Kingsville fell short in the sixth with one run scored.
