The Alice Lady Coyotes will again be represented at the state track and field meet in Austin.
Sophmore Felisha Salinas saw to it Saturday when she placed second in the 300-meter hurdles at the Region IV-4A track and field meet in San Antonio's Alamo Stadium.
At the Region IV-3A meet at Texas A&M University-Kingsville's Javelina Stadium, it was a dramatic finish in the boys' 800-meter run which led to San Diego's Samuel Rodriguez earning a trip to the state meet.
Rodriguez, a San Diego High School junior who reached the 3A cross country state championship in the fall, was in third down the stretch trailing Bandera's Dylan Stevens and Lytle's Brandon Lacy. When Lacy stumbled, Rodriguez claimed second.
Rodriguez finished just an instant behind Stevens and a fraction of a second in front of Lacy. San Diego had another state qualifer in Rowena Trevino, who advanced by taking second in the 3,200-meter run.
