LOWDOWN: An all-district honorable mention, Garcia figures prominently into Alice's scheme
What are your goals this season?
My personal goal this season is to give 100 percent of my heart, mind and soul to the team. I couldn't think of giving anything less. This is my family and we are taught as children to protect our family, so with that in mind I will do my very best to protect my team and do what I have to do to in order to win and make a difference this year. We'll be remembered for the hard work we put into the season.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to attend UTSA where I will seek a degree in petroleum engineering as well as pursue my passion to play college football. I can only imagine being a starter for the Roadrunners and having my family and friends cheer me on. That in my mind would be such a great honor and achievement. Playing for the Alice Coyotes teaches you that you can do anything you put your mind to.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, the people that are my No. 1 fans and that support me to the fullest no matter what. There is no way I would be here without their support. My parents divorced when I was 10 and it made me want to work harder. I want to prove that no matter what happens in life a person can overcome any obstacle and achieve any goal they desire.
Do you have any memorable moments as a player?
When my "Popo" Dick Smithwick watched me play. He was the most amazing man I have ever known. I lost him last November and every time I get on the field I play for him. He was my No. 1 supporter and I know if he were here he would not stop smiling. He was a quiet man but very wise and a great part of my life. I miss him so very much and know that he is proud of who I've become because of his guidance.
