Alice High School regional qualifying golfers were among those named First Team All-District in 31-4A.

Regional qualifers Adam Palacios, Juan Carlo Montemayor andAmy Acker were named first team. Julie Aguilar also won first team honors.

It was a fitting end to a strong season by the golf program.

On Thursday, Palacios placed 12th at the Region IV-4A tournament at the Golf Club of Texas. He fired rounds of 78 and 75 to finish among the top of the regions best high school golfers. Palacios also placed second in the 31-4A tournament at the Alice Municipal Golf Course earlier this month.

Montemayor also competed in the regional tournament. Only a sophomore, it was second year playing in the Region IV-4A?tournament. He finished the tournament just a few strokes behind Palacios. At the district meet, Montemayor placed fifth individually.

Acker was the girls’ lone representative at the regional tournament at the Golf Club of Texas on Monday and Tuesday. She finished the regional tournament in the bottom third of the field. She advanced to regionals by placing second in the 31-4A tournament.

Aguilar, a sophomore, placed fifth in the district tournament, and was a couple of strokes away from advancing to regionals.

Senior Mark Salazar and sophomore Amber Edwards were second team selections.
