Although Rudy Flores Jr. does not go to Robstown High School, his parents Rudy Sr. and Rachel are former graduates. Rudy Jr., a senior from Jack C. Hays High School in Buda, recently signed a letter of intent to play college football at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.
"There has been total excitement around the house since recruitment began last October," said Rudy Flores, Sr. "We had been getting recruitment letters from different schools in the Kansas area. We didn't think they knew about Rudy so we were surprised to see that."
Like many boys, as a child, Rudy Jr. hoped that he could make something of himself in the sport of football, and after finally committing recently with Mid-America Nazarene, he and his family have realized that his dream has come true.
"We know what he went through," Rudy Flores, Sr. said. "He had made sacrifices, worked really hard, and even had to overcome injuries. Although the chance of him playing college football was slim, we knew that he still had a chance,"
The proud parents of Rudy Jr. were overjoyed as soon as Rudy Jr. signed his official letter of intent earlier this spring. He heads to Olathe this fall in hopes to further extend his football career.
"We feel lucky to see the work his put forth has paid off," Rudy Flores Sr. said. The entire Flores family and Alvear family of Robstown are very happy for him."
