The Banquete Bulldogs continued their drive toward a District 32-2A title, winning their sixth straight game Friday against the Premont Cowboys, 41-34.
It was another solid performance for the Banquete running game, rushing for 317 yards on the ground.
Tailbacks Mikey Gonzalez and Jacob Harris each rushed for at least 100 yards.
Harris had 27 carries for 120 yards and two touchdowns. It was his third straight game rushing for 100-plus yards.
Gonzalez rushed for 110 yards on 11 carries with three touchdowns.
Banquete and Premont each scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, but two missed extra-point opportunities from the Cowboys gave the Bulldogs a slight 14-12 lead.
After Gonzalez scored his second touchdown in the second quarter, Banquete had a comfortable 21-12 lead.
Premont began to play catch-up as quarterback Steven Cavazos threw his second of three touchdown passes in the game to receiver Juan Hinojosa, making it 21-20 after Premont successfully completed a two-point conversion.
Nearing the end of the first half, Gonzalez found the end zone one more time, sneaking it in from the Cowboys' 1-yard line, giving the Bulldogs a 28-20 lead.
The defense stepped up for Premont, leaving Banquete scoreless in the third quarter.
Cavazos helped the Cowboys get closer to evening the game after scoring a 6-yard touchdown run to make it 28-26.
After failing to convert the two-point conversion, the Bulldogs were hanging on to a small lead heading into the fourth quarter.
A 6-yard touchdown pass from Cavazos to receiver Clay Weeks gave Premont the lead, 34-28, after converting the two-point attempt.
The lead would not last long as Harris tied the game up 34-34, but Banquete failed to get the point-after.
The Bulldogs were able to score the winning touchdown when Harris rushed in the end zone from four yards away to help Banquete secure the win.
Next up for the Bulldogs are the Santa Rosa Warriors.
Both teams are undefeated in district play with the winner taking sole possession of the lead. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Banquete.
