Rain, rain, go away - Little League all-stars want to play.

Seriously. Barring any more heavy rains like those which flooded streets in Alice Thursday afternoon, Little League all-star baseball and softball action is scheduled to begin as early as Saturday.

Here in Alice, the National League is hosting the 11- and 12-year-old tournament at Bobby Cuellar Park.

The first game of the tournament is at 5:30 p.m. Saturday between Benavides and Alice American. Ben Bolt and Premont are slated to play in the second game at 8 p.m.

In softball, the Alice league will host the Junior League tournament at the Alice High School Lady Coyote Softball Complex beginning Sunday, July 1.

Alice and Ben Bolt will begin the tournament with a 5:30 p.m. Falfurrias and San Diego will play at 8 p.m.

The 9- and 10-year-old tournament is set for Hebbronville.

It begins Wednesday in Hebbronville with a match-up between Falfurrias and Hebbronville. Freer and Alice will play after that at 8 p.m.

The 11- and 12-year-old tournament is in Benavides. It also begins Wednesday with with Hebbronville and Falfurrias. Alice and Freer will follow.
