The Alice High School cross county team ended the regular season Saturday with top varsity team championships.

Alice runners won the girls and boys team championships at the Corpus Christi Miller XC Invitational Saturday at West Guth Park. The junior varsity girls team was second in their division and the junior varsity boys were third in their division. The meet was the team’s last meet before the district meet Friday.

The Alice varsity boys won a team championship at the Miller meet. The team included Guadalupe Garcia - 3rd. Patrick Saenz - 4th. Samuel Salinas - 7th. Angel Perez - 18th. Rolando Pena - 25th. Francisco Castillo - 33rd. Aidan Salinas - 40th. Fernando Castillo was also a part of this team.

The Alice varsity girls won their division. The team included Tania Lillich - 2nd Place. Jackie Villarreal - 3rd Place. Rita Castillo - 6th. Ashley Arellano - 13th. Paris Chalfant, Kaitlyn Soliz, Samantha Pierce and Alaura Cantu were also a part of this team.

The Alice junior varsity girls were second in their division. The team included Aliyah Garrido - 7th. Ashley Mejia - 8th. Daniella Contreras - 9th. Mariella Villarreal - 10th. Galilea Chavez - 11th. Ayla Villareal - 19th. Priscilla Benavidez - 27th. Tayler Blum - 43rd. Allison Sanchez - 49th. Abbigail Gonzalez - 58th.

The Alice junior varsity boys finished in third place. The team included Jordan Perez - 10th. Elian Rodriguez - 12th. Ronaldo Arellano - 19th. Ociel Castillo - 27th. William Park - 48th. Julian Garcia was also a part of this team.

Before the Miller meet, the Alice runners had a solid showing at the McNeil Cross Country Invitational at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The course is the same course used for the state cross country meet. Sammy Salinas placed 16th in the boys’ run and Guadalupe Garcia placed 31st. Tania Lillich placed 29th in the girls’ run. Rita Castillo placed 34th and Jackie Villarreal was 47th.

The Alice runners are running in the district meet Friday morning at West Guth Park. The girls run at 8 a.m. and the boys run at 8:30 a.m. Junior varsity and freshmen teams compete afterwards.
