Alice quarterback Isaiah Aguilar is up for big-time statewide recognition.

Despite the heartbreaking 49-40 District 15-5A, Div. II’s Port Lavaca-Calhoun Friday night, the Alice High School junior was one of the top passers in Texas last week. Aguilar is one of 10 Texas high school players in the running for the Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week for Week 6.

Aguilar completed 23 of 37 for 413 yards and four touchdowns. He also had 34 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Behind Aguilar’s yardage, the Coyotes totaled 532 total yards.

• Pittsburg QB Jaylon Jimmerson - 339 yards, 5 TDs passing; 116 yards, 2 TDs rushing.

• Jasper RB Montavien Hunt - 350 yards, 4 TDs.
