BEN BOLT — Approaching the midway point of the season, the Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco Badgers are even again following their most impressive outing so far.

The Badgers improved to 2-2 by beating the Premont Cowboys, 47-12, Friday night.

Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco won the night with a bend-but-don’t-break defense and a handful of big-time offensive plays.

The Badgers built an early lead off a three-yard touchdown run by running back Tristan Perez and a 14-yard scoring run by A.J. Perez.

Premont’s offense made its presence felt midway through the first quarter with a 61-yard scamper to the end zone by running back Trey Davila.

Trailing 12-6, the Cowboys kicked an onside kick, but the Badgers recovered the ball. That set up a 36-yard scoring pass from quarterback Matt Hernandez to Jaime Gonzalez.

The Badgers added to their lead with an interception return for a touchdown by Perez on the Cowboys’ next possession.

Leading comfortably, the Badgers got on the scoreboard again on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Hernandez to Ruben Cuellar. They also scored again on a 37-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the game.

Davila scored again for the Cowboys on a 75-yard run. Davia ended the game with 22 carries for 241 yards.

Tristan Perez led Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco in rushing with 12 carries for 100 yards. Hernandez had eight carries for 89 yards, He also completed four of four passes for 90 yards.
