The tournament, now in its second year, is a major fundraiser for the baseball program, and the proceeds from the tournament will fund a full list of baseball equipment and improvements to the Alice Coyote Baseball Complex.

The golf tournament is set for Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Alice Municipal Golf Course. Tee times are set for 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The field is limited to the first 40 four-man teams.

The entry fee is $300 per team in paid by Nov. 1. The fee to enter the tournament after Nov. 1 is $400 per team. Entry fee includes green and cart fees. Lunch is also being provided.

Prizes will be award to first, second and third place finisher, as well as for hole-in-one, closest to the pin, longest drive and other events. Hole sponsorships are available for $100 per hole.

Aside from new baseball equipment and uniforms, some of what is planned are projects like repainting the baseball locker room, replacing the canopies over the baseball park’s stands and incorporating for orange around the park itself, Alice head baseball coach Nick Alvarado said.

There is also a plan to build a second set of covered batting cages at the complex.

“We want it to be the jewel of South Texas when it comes to high school baseball,” Alvarado said. “The field gets a lot of use in the playoffs because it’s a neutral site and it’s a beautiful facility that holds a lot of people. What we have planned will enhance the baseball facility for our kids, the school and the community.”
