The Alice Lady Coyotes picked up a road win Tuesday night with a strong showing against the Robstown Lady Cottonpickers.

Alice defeated Robstown, 25-13, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-13.

Katelyn Hernandez led Alice in kills with 11 and Sarina Cantu added six. Samantha Hinojosa and Noriah Pena have five assists each. Hinojosa had an ace. Meaghan Molina paced Alice in digs with eight and Madison Timmons followed with six.

Alice’s win Tuesday follows the team’s third-place finish at the Laredo United tournament Saturday. The Lady Coyotes began the tournament will pool play against Laredo United’s junior varsity, Nikki Rowe, Roma and Laredo Nixon. Alice ended pool play in a three-way tie with Roma and Nixon. Alice was eventually put in the bronze bracket. In tournament play, Alice lost to C.C. Win from El Paso, but then bounced back to beat Moody and Carrizo Springs to finish bracket play in third place.

The Lady Coyotes have two more non-district matches before beginning the District 29-54 schedule next Friday on the road against Tuloso-Midway.

Alice is playing a road match against Beeville this Friday and a home match against San Diego Tuesday.
