A pair of Alice High School runners won medals at the first Border Olympics cross country meet in Laredo Saturday.
Alice runners Tania Lillich place in the Class 5A and 6A girls division and Samuel Salinas placed in the boys race. The varsity and junior varsity teams competed on a 5K course. Tillich placed 19th with a time of 21:23. Salinas placed 16th with a time of 17:18. Both runners are Alice High School juniors.
This year was the first time that the longstanding Border Olympics had a cross country meet. The meet was at the Lake Casa Blanca Country Club. More than 600 runners competed in the inaugural race.
