The Alice Lady Coyotes had a rough go at the Corpus Christi ISD Spikefest, but the team did reach the tournament’s consolation championship game.

In pool play Friday, Alice lost to Victoria East, 25-18 and 25-17. They lost to London, 25-8 and 25-19, and they fell to Carroll, 25-9 and 25-11.

Alice lost to Bandera in the first game of the tournament bracket. Alice fell, 25-13 and 25-15. The Lady Coyotes returned and beat Corpus Christi Miller in the consolation bracket, 25-7 and 25-10.

The Lady Coyotes reached the consolation championship game, but lost to Aransas Pass, 25-16 and 25-22.

The Lady Coyotes are playing in their first home game of the season Wednesday against Refugio. Game time is 7 p.m.

• The San Diego Lady Vaqueros evened their season record with a victory Monday night.

The Lady Vaqueros defeated Mathis is four games, 25-13, 21-25, 25-12 and 25-23.

Gabby Jimenez led San Diego with seven kills. Alex Gonzalez had four and Kris Vela had three. Alexia Rivera had 14 assists. Riviera also led the team with four aces.

The Lady Vaqueros improved to 5-5 for the season, while Mathis dropped to 1-2.
