The Alice Armor 13-and-under baseball team won the Houston Astros World Series Champions Baseball Festival this past weekend.

The team, made up most of Alice players, went 2-0 in pool play and 5-0 in bracket play to win the 17-team tournament.

Armor began the tournament with a 12-8 win against D3 Baseball from Huffman. They then beat the Bucs Navy from Lake Jackson, 6-2. They win a rematch against D3 Baseball, 1-0, before edging the Louisiana Tigers, 7-6. Armor beat Game Day Thunder, 9-7, and the Cardinals from San Antonio, 15-1. Alice beat the Cardinals, 15-3, in the championship game.

Players are Ryan Galvan, Mark Garza, RJ Cruz, Alejandro Vasquez, Matthew Ortiz, Angel Rodriguez, Cristian Trevino, Darrien Rogers, David Perez (Ben Bolt), Nathaniel Cantu (Banquete), Luke Davis (Sinton), Emiliano Zapata (Calallen) and coaches Steve Galvan and Mark Garza.

Alice Armor is currently ranked No. 1 in Texas and No. 7 in the Nation in USSSA Baseball 13-and-under Division.
