KINGSVILLE — The San Diego Lady Vaqueros finally had an answer for the Bishop Lady Badgers Saturday night.

After getting blown out in Game 1 of their best-of-three area playoff series Thursday night and then coming back to win Game 2 with a run in the bottom of the 10th inning, San Diego finally broke through in Game 3 and won, 16-4.

The Lady Vaqueros put together an offensive show by scoring 16 runs off 17 hits through five innings Saturday night at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The Lady Vaqueros scored three in their first at-bat before scoring nine in the third and four in the fourth.

Miranda Buentello was the winning pitcher. She allowed eight hits and four runs in five innings.

Leandra Bazan led the Lady Vaqueros at the plate. San Diego’s shortstop was 4-for-4 with two singles, two doubles and five RBIs. She also scored a pair of runs. Zaliegh Perez was 3-for-5 with two RBI.

The win sends San Diego to the Region IV-3A quarterfinals.

The Lady Vaqueros are facing Odem in the next round. Odem reached the third round by defeating Hebbronville and Falfurrias.
