It was probably the Alice Coyotes’ finest period of basketball this season.

Trailing the Tuloso-Midway Warriors, 44-29, the Coyotes went on a dominating run. Alice scored 28 points to outscore the Warriors, 28-18.

Unfortunately for Alice, the late 28 points weren’t enough. Although the Coyotes trailed by only two in the final minute of the game, the Warriors were able to take advantage of late free throws and win, 62-57.

Tuloso-Midway hit eight of nine free throws to preserve the win.

John Leija led the Coyotes in scoring with 15 points. He scored six in the fourth period. Austin Garcia scored 12 fourth-quarter points off four three pointers. Santos Ruiz scored nine and Ramiro Chavez and Alejandro Barrientes scored eight each.

The loss dropped the Coyotes to 5-18 for the season.
