CALALLEN — The Alice Coyotes weren't supposed to be in the court Thursday night, but boy are they glad they were.
The Coyotes recorded their first District 30-5A North Zone victory in a make-up game on the road against Calallen Thursday night.
The Coyotes had three players score in double-figures to pave the way to a 67-52 win against the Wildcats Thursday.
John Leija and Ramiro Chavez scored 19 points each. Chavez had three three-pointers. Austin Garcia scored 13 points.
Calallen led 43-42 after three periods, but Alice pulled away with a 25-9 effort in the fourth. Garcia and Chavez led the Coyotes' effort with eight points in the quarter. Leija had five and Oscar Herrera had four.
The Coyotes improved to 5-17 for the season and 1-2 in District 30-5A's North Zone.
Alice is playing at home Friday night against the Tuloso-Midway. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.
