Head coach Craig Nicholson released the Texas A&M University-Kingsville softball team's 2018 schedule that features roughly 55 games including two tournaments.

The 2018 season begins at the Texas A&M International Tournament in Laredo, Texas on February 2-4. In that weekend, the Javelinas will play the host two times and will match up against Central Oklahoma thrice. UCO ended the 2017 season receiving votes in the NFCA national poll. The second week will have the team in Grand Prairie, Texas for the North Texas Softball Bash (Feb. 9-11).

TAMUK's home opener also serves as the season's Lone Star Conference opener when the NCAA Division II national runner-up, Angelo State, comes to town for a three-game set on February 16-17. Other home conference three-game series will be against UT Permian Basin (March 2-3), Tarleton State (March 16-17), Cameron (March 29-30), and West Texas A&M (April 20-21). The Blue and Gold will also host four non-conference doubleheaders beginning with Texas A&M International (Feb. 20), St. Edward's (Feb. 27), Oklahoma Christian (March 20), and St. Mary's (April 6).

Midwestern State (Feb. 23-24), Texas Woman's (March 9-10), A&M-Commerce (March 23-24), Eastern New Mexico (April 13-14), and Western New Mexico (April 27-28) will all host the Javelinas, making up their conference road schedule. The rest of the road schedule will be against Southern Arkansas (March 12), St. Edward's (April 9), St. Mary's (April 17), and albeit a conference member, Kingsville will end the season with a non-conference game against Western New Mexico on April 28.

"We have an extremely challenging schedule ahead and as of right now, every game that we have scheduled is in the region," said head coach Craig Nicholson. "You have to approach it one day at a time, knowing that you are basically playing 55 playoff games throughout the season. We will be tested very early with perennial top 25 programs like Central Oklahoma and Angelo State so our focus when we return from the break will be to maximize the three weeks we have in preparation before opening day."

The top six teams in the LSC standings will qualify to compete in the 2018 LSC Softball Tournament on May 4-5. The top-seeded team will be the regular season conference champions and tournament host. The team who wins the postseason tournament will receive the league's automatic berth in the NCAA playoffs. The NCAA Division II South Central Regional tournament is slated to be May 10-12, the NCAA Division II Super Regional tournament will be held May 17-18, and the NCAA Division II Championships series will be on May 23-27, being held in Salem, Va.
