Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial has quickly become the top big school in South Texas high school basketball.

In fact, Veterans was ranked No. 15 in Class 5A in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches statewide rankings.

Veterans Memorial played like one of the state’s best schools Friday night in a home game against the Alice Coyotes. The Eagles outsized and outmanned Alice. They scored early and often as they ran up the score for a one-sided 100-33 win.

The Eagles had a big game from Albert Arismendi, who finished the game with 28 points. Terrain Reddy had 14 and Troy Bernal had 11.

Alice was led by Ramiro Chavez with 15. Alejandro Barrientes had 12.

Veterans Memorial improved to 15-3, while the Coyotes dropped to 4-9 with the loss.

The Alice boys are on the road Tuesday against Banquete.
