The Alice Lady Coyotes’ first tournament of the season ended with a trophy.

Playing in the annual Border Bash tournament in McAllen, the Alice Lady Coyotes got a glimpse of what’s in store for them in District 30-5A’s crossover games through the next couple of weeks. They played a solid line-up, but came away with a third-place finish in the McAllen-area tournament.

The Lady Coyotes began the tournament Thursday with a win over Lincoln-Juarez and McAllen Nikki Rowe. They returned Friday and beat Edcouch-Elsa and McAllen High.

On Saturday, Alice lost to Arlington Sequin and beat Harlingen South for third place.

Criselda Cruz was named all-tournament. She had a 24-point game against McAllen High and  27-point game against Harlingen South.
