SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Lady Vaqueros let an opportunity slip through their hands Tuesday night.

The San Diego girls could have moved up in the district standings with a win at home Tuesday night, but Cotulla had different plans.

Despite a hard-fought match, Cotulla prevailed and stunned San Diego, winning 3-1.

Cotulla defeated San Diego, 25-19, 19-25, 27-25 and 15-25.

After falling behind one game, the Lady Vaqueros responded and took the second game, 25-19. They seemed posed to win the third as well, but Cotulla rallied late and won it, 27-15. Cotulla went on to win the deciding fourth game, 25-15.

Leandra Bazan led San Diego in kills with nine. Kriselda Vela had five and Alex Gonzalez had fourth. Alexis Rivera led the team in aces with two. Marley Martinez and Bazan had one apiece.
