The Alice High School cross country team had a fast start to its season Saturday.

Alice ran at the Gregory-Portland Wildcat Cross Country Invitational. The Alice girls took third and the boys placed fourth. In all, some 12 teams participated.

Matthew Lara led the boys’ team with a third place finish and a time of 13:02. Xavier Longoria placed 22nd with a time of 14:15.

Criselda Cruz led the Alice girls by placing 10th with a time of 17:20. Tania Lillich was 16th and Hannah Martinez was 19th,
