There isn’t a more dramatic finish to a baseball game than a walk-off home run. And to do it at the Little League Texas West Junior Division state championship, well, that’s just that much better.

The Alice American Junior Division all-stars won their first game at the state tournament Saturday by beating Abilene Wylie, 6-5. With the tournament victory, the team of 14- and under Alice boys, advance to the tournament’s semifinal round where they will meet Kerrville at 9 a.m. Sunday. The tournament is being played in Abilene.

Alice American’s big shot came in the bottom of the seventh inning with the game tied, 5-5. Isai Campos hit the home run off Wylie pitcher Dash Albus to give Alice the win.

Wylie had just tied the game in the sixth inning with a three-run rally.

R.J. Carrillo earned the win for Alice. He struck out two and completely shutdown Wylie in one inning of work. Cash Benavides started the game for Alice. He went four and a third innings. He allowed two hits, two runs and struck out.

Adan Moreno, Jacob Guzman, Campos, Carrillo, and Kaleb Aguilar each drove in one run to lead Alice. Alice American was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Aguilar had the most chances in the field with six. Josh Moreno led Alice American with two stolen bases.
