Alice High School junior Criselda Cruz was aiming for her fastest time of the season Friday night at the UIL state track and field meet.

She turned in a respectable finish, but missed her mark, and against some of the fastest hurdlers in Texas, it led to a 7th place finish in the Class 5A 300-meters hurdles Friday evening at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas.

Cruz placed seventh with a time of 45.74.

April Polansky of Flour Bluff won the event.

Cruz’s qualifying time in the event is a 45.22 at regionals two weeks ago in San Antonio.
