Alice High School’s top male swimmer had a busy and productive weekend in the water.
A day after swimming for Alice against the best swimmers in South Texas, Perez competed in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Winter Games in Frisco and won three gold medals and set two meet records.
An Alice High School senior and a state swim meet hopeful, Perez dominated at the Winter Games in Frisco early Sunday. Perez won the men 18 and over 50-yard backstroke with a time of 26.79. He then won the men 18 and over 50-yard fly with a time of 25.19 and the men 18 and over 100-yard individual medley with a time of 58.91.
His time in the back stroke was a new meet record. His time in the individual medley was also a meet record which he already owned.
Perez competed for the Alice High School swim team on Saturday and won a silver medal at the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Zone Meet at the Tuloso-Midway High School Natatorium.
Perez was second in the boys 100-yard butterfly with a time 55.48
Perez also fourth individually in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.04. He also swam a leg in the boys 200-medley relay, which placed ninth in the meet finals.
