ALICE, Texas - Thelma Edith Flanders, 69, passed away August 7, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital. She was born Jan. 18, 1938 in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Donald and Helen Houlihan. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alice. She was also a member of the Women of the Church. She worked at the Alice Food Pantry and was involved in religious education at several military bases across the country. She was active in missionary work with the Navajo Indians with Rehoboth Christian School in Rehoboth, N.M. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Dale Flanders of Alice; two sons, Timothy (Gehan) Flanders and Phillip Flanders all of Alice; five sisters, Jeanne Pereboom of Lowell, Mich., Molly (Larry) Ter Harr of Kentwood, Mich., Marion (Ken) Adamy of Alto, Mich., Pat (Bob) Vander Weide of Jenison, Mich. and Betty Powers of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Mike (Diane) Houlihan of Belding, Mich., and Art (Ronnie) Vander Ven of Grand Rapids, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday August 9, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice.
Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Alice with the funeral service immediately following at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Rehoboth Christian School, P.O. Box 41, Rehoboth, N.M., 87322, or to the First Presbyterian Church in Alice.

ALICE, Texas - Rafael (Paila) Lopez, 68 years old, died August 6, 2007 in an Alice nursing home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcos and Candelaria Charles Lopez; two brothers, Miguel and Jose Maria Lopez; and one grandson, E. J. Longoria.
Survivors include his wife, Ricarda "Kaya" Lopez of Alice, Texas; three sons, Orlando (Virginia) Lopez, Rafael (JoAnn) Lopez Jr. and Marc (Marcy) Lopez, all of Alice, Texas; four daughters, Belinda (Frank) Alaniz, Belinda (Kike) Luna, Tina (Eddie) Herrera and Patsy (Tony) Rodriguez, all of Alice; one brother, Jesse (Belinda) Lopez of Alice, Texas; two sisters, Angelita (Raul) Cruz of Beeville, Texas, and Maria (Felix) Garza of Alice, Texas; 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in Alice with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice. Burial will follow at the New Collins Cemetery in Alice.

PORTLAND, Texas - Sharon Atkinson Olivo, 61, passed away at home August 7, 2007 after a long illness. She was born to Ernest and Ann Atkinson on Oct. 6, 1945. She was a hair stylist, working through the years at Dorothy's Salon, The Hair Shack, and several salons in the Calallen Area. She enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, singing, and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Atkinson; and stepfather Hollie McConnell.
Survivors include her mother, Ann McConnell; brother, James (Deana) Atkinson; sister, Sandra (Jr Cooper) Lonsbury; and nine nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home, 500 Wildcat Drive in Portland.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 4101 S. Alameda Street, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78411.

AGUA DULCE, Texas - Jeffery Thompson, 38, passed away June 30, 2007. He was preceded in death by his father, Alan W. Thompson; and his son, Austin W. Thompson.
Survivors include his daughter, Gracy E. Thompson of Austin, Texas; mother, Loyce Peek; sisters, Nell (Robert) Keenan of Douglas, Wyo., Ellen Downs of Bay City, Texas, Melda (Myron) Siebe of Woodville, Texas, and Shawna (Ben) Gregory of Midfield, Texas; four nephews and four nieces.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2007 at the Agua Dulce Senior Citizen Center.
