Cavazos, Frederick, Lopez, Montemayor
Minerva Robles Cavazos, 60, passed away September 21, 2007 at her residence in Alice. She was a homemaker and mother. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a member of Las Guadalupanas. She was a volunteer for the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eliberto and Juanita Robles; her husband, George Cavazos, one brother, Modesto Robles; and two sisters, Enedina Robles Saenz and Elia Robles Cano.
Survivors include her son, Rolando Cavazos of Alice; one brother, Jesse Robles of Mankato, Minn.; four sisters, Corina Robles (Antonio) Villegas of Alice, Elsa Robles (Celestino) Benavides of Corpus Christi, Maria Luisa Robles (Luis) Garza of Portland and Maria Elena Robles (Benny) Elizondo of San Diego.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice. She will be taken to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday with a Rosary that same evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and burial will follow at the New Collins Cemetery.

Wynne G. Frederick, 82, passed away September 21, 2007 in Floresville, Texas. He was born February 4, 1925 in Chickashe, Okla., to Clarence and Bessie Frederick. Frederick was a retired salesman for Dowell, and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Frederick of Alice; one daughter, Sandra Brumley of McAllen; three sons, Edward B. (Nora) Frederick of Arlington, W.G. "Rusty" (Vicki) Frederick of Palestine and Gary Lynn (Debbie) Frederick of LaGrange; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2007 from 1 to 9 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2007 at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Alice Cemetery,
Holmgreen Mortuary Inc. in charge of arrangements.
Alicia M. Lopez, 82, passed away Friday, September 21, 2007 in a local hospital following an extended illness. She was born to Ramon and Ermodea Martinez on January 25, 1925 in Laredo, Texas. She formerly worked for the City of Alice, but retired from Beneficial Financial. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leopoldo Lopez Sr.; her parents; and two brothers, Hugo Martinez and Armando Martinez.
Survivors include two sons, Israel (Grace) Lopez and Leopoldo (Ernesta) Lopez, all of Alice, Texas; six daughters, Annabelle (Gil) Garcia of Alice, Maria (Roy) Gomez of Alice, Alicia (Roel) Nava of Alice, Norma (Pete) Benavides of Lytle, Texas, Alma Salinas of Alice and Melissa (Cliff) Brown of Auburn, Wash.; three brothers, Roman Martinez of Corpus Christi, Salvador Martinez of Laredo and Mauro Martinez of San Benito; two sisters, Armandina Martinez of Hebbronville and Elva David of Freeport, Texas; 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin Sunday, September 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary will be recited Sunday, September 23, 2007 at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 24, 2007 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the New Collins Cemetery.

Julia S. Montemayor, 92, a resident of the San Jose community, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2007 in Alice, Texas after a long illness. She was an active member of the San Jose Mission Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was dedicated to her family, and enjoyed cooking for them. Julia, otherwise known as "Welita," was a devoted Catholic and mother. She was most happy when her family was around her. She expressed her love for her family through the gift of her delicious home-cooked meals which included her famous tortillas, tamales, empanadas and pan de polvo. She also enjoyed quilting with her family and presenting the quilts as family heirlooms.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alejandro Montemayor, and two sons, Alejandro Montemayor Jr. and Amando S. Montemayor.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Adolfo S. (Maria Antonia) Montemayor of Alice, Texas; her daughter, Lucinda Montemayor (Antonio) Flores of Brownsville, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Irma C. Montemayor of San Diego and Thelma E. Montemayor of Alice; her sister, Leonarda S. Vela of San Jose Community, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Albesa Montemayor and Odilia Saenz, both of San Diego; 12 grandchildren, Adolfo (Donna) Montemayor Jr. of San Antonio, Donnie (Thelma) Montemayor of Refugio, Veronica Montemayor of Austin, Adrian (Melissa) Montemayor and Orlando Montemayor, both of Laredo, Selina (Reuben) Garcia of Alice, Miguel (Yvonne) Montemayor of Austin, Sara (Aaron) Garcia of McAllen, Antonio Alejandro (Ursula) Flores of Seguin, Denise (John) Hickman of Harlingen, Elaine (Alejandro) Gonzalez of Corpus Christi and Amando J. Flores of San Antonio, Texas; and 17 great-grandchildren
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas, with Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2007 at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Benavides, Texas. Burial will follow at the Lopez Cemetery in San Jose Community, Texas. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
