ALICE, Texas - Gloria Bowls Garcia, 81, passed away July 28, 2007 in an Alice hospital. She was born November 4, 1925 in Kerrville, Texas, to Percy and Guadalupe Bowls. Mrs. Garcia was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Alice.

Survivors include two daughters, Marie Rose (Carlos) Medrano of Jacksonville, Fla., and Cindy (David) Cisneros of Alice; three sons, Guate (Naomi) Garcia. Jr. of Alice, Carlos C. R. (Cheryl) Garcia of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Gilbert "Andy" (Alicia) Garcia of Alice; the father of her children, Guate Garcia Sr. of Alice; five sisters, Sophie Craig of Virginia Beach, Va., Goldie Acuna of Corpus Christi, Texas, Larlene (Larry) Martinez, Roselie (Alfred) Moreno and Leola Price, all of Austin; 25 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, July 30, 2007 from 2 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, July 31, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited that evening at 7 p.m. at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Roberson-Collins Cemetery in Alice.

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Rosa S. "Rosita" Sanchez, 98, a lifelong resident of San Diego, Texas, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at her daughter's residence with her family by her bedside.

She enjoyed spending her time reading her Bible and other books, and served as an advisor for friends and family seeking her wisdom.

She was a mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Sanchez; a daughter, Josefina Sanchez; and four brothers.

Survivors include a son, Antonio Sanchez of Kingsville, Texas; a daughter, Minerva (Bartolo) Vela of San Diego, Texas; a sister, Francisca De La Rosa of San Diego, Texas; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas.

Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery.
