Rose Malik Hlavac, 94, died Oct. 27, 2007, in Corpus Christi.

She was born in Granger on Aug. 30, 1913, to Rochus and Antonie Strmiska Malik.

Rose's family moved to Robstown in 1926 when she was 13 years old. She married Joe Hlavac in 1932. Rose was a homemaker/farmer and a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Robstown, the St. Anne's Altar Society and KJZT #73.

She was preceded in death by Joe Hlavac, her husband of 61 years; two brothers, Tom Malik and Joe Malik; and three sisters, Mary Skurka, Agnes Podest and Lillie Malik.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Greene of Taylor; grandsons, Benjamin Greene of Roseland, La. and Matthew Greene of Corpus Christi; and one brother, Frank Malik of Charlottesville, Va.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with the reverends Tom Showalter and Paul Roman as concelebrants. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park.
