BENAVIDES, Texas - Odilia Ramirez Gonzalez, 80, a lifetime resident of Benavides, Texas died Thursday, June 7, 2007 in a Kingsville hospital after a long illness.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Benavides and a member of Santa Rose De Lima Catholic Church. She was a former employee of De Leons Pharmacy and the Duval County Extension District. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all her family especially her grandchildren who she enjoyed spending time with.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Gonzalez; her parents, Jose and Agueda Ramirez; and five sisters, Elsa Benavides, Bertha Ramirez, Merida R. Ramirez, Gloria Bedoy and Consuelo Ramirez.

Survivors include her sons, Adrian (Melva) Gonzalez of Kingsville, Texas, and Gilbert Gonzalez of Benavides, Texas; and two daughters, Diana (Frank) Guerra of Kingsville, Texas, and Edna (Elio) Ramirez of Cotulla, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Vigil observance of deceased with Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Benavides, Texas, with Father Andrew Hejdak as celebrant. Burial followed at the Benavides Cemetery.

Nunez

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Senaida R. "Sandy" Nunez, 72, a long time resident of San Diego, Texas, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in a San Antonio hospital after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Quireno and Luisa Rivera; one sister and three brothers.

Survivors include her husband of 50 year, Idelfonso "Poncho" Nunez, Sr. of San Diego, Texas; her three sons, Juan Garcia of Kansas City, Kan., Freddie Nunez Sr. of Austin, Texas, and Idelfonso Nunez, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters, Yolanda De Paz of Austin, Texas, and Terry Ann Uribe of Alice, Texas; her six sisters, Isabel Brown of Lockhart, Texas, Maria Rivera, Juana Dominguez and Luisa Rivera all of Austin, Texas, Lola Tenorio of Gardenia, Calif., and Dominga Rodriguez of Austin, Texas; and her brother, Domingo Rivera of San Francisco, Calif.; 28 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Vigil for the Deceased was observed, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial followed at the San Diego Cemetery .

Ruiz

BENAVIDES, Texas - Abel A. Ruiz, 69, a lifelong resident of Benavides, Texas, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at his residence after a long illness. He was retired after 20 years of employment with the Benavides I.S.D. He enjoyed hunting for javelina with his dogs, playing his accordion and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Maria Ruiz; a brother Alejandro Ruiz Sr.; and two nephews.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Graciela "Gracie" Ruiz of Benavides, Texas; his son, Reynaldo "Lando" (Samantha) Ruiz of Hebbronville, Texas; his brothers, Juan Ruiz and Armando Ruiz, both of San Diego, Texas, Emilio Ruiz of Port Lavaca, Texas, and Miguel Ruiz of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, his sister in-law, and many close friends.

Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Vigil for the Deceased was observed, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening.
