ALICE, Texas - Julia Canales Almaraz, 96, died Monday, May 7, 2007 in an Alice hospital after an illness. A resident of Alice, she was a die-hard Alice Coyotes fan and was very active at St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish in Alice. She was preceded in death by her parents, Policarpio and Romana Chapa Canales; her husband, Roberto Almaraz; five brothers, Lupe Molina, Adan Garcia, Noe, Alfonso and Horacio Canales; and two sisters, Eva Garcia and Cleotilde "Tillie" Canales.
Survivors include her two sons, Roberto (Yolanda) Almaraz of San Antonio, Texas and Alonzo "Lonnie" Almaraz of Alice, Texas; three sisters, Carolina Garza and Teresa (Lupe) Garza, both of Alice, Texas, and Aurora Almaraz of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Bobby, John, Nicole and Roxanne Almaraz of Georgetown, Texas, and A.D. (Liza) of Alice, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Walker-Mora Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice with burial following at New Collins Cemetery in Alice.

Lucinda Rangel Denham, 61, of Alice, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital. She was a nurse for 40 years, lived her life as she wanted and did it her way. She graduated from the University of Texas in San Antonio where she earned her BSN degree. She owned her own health care business. She was preceded in death by her father, Pedro Rangel; one brother, Roque Rangel; and a sister, Irma Rangel Delgado.
Survivors include her mother, Leonor Uribe Rangel of Alice, Texas; two sons, James (Norma) Denham of San Antonio, Texas, and Angel Daniel Denham of Corpus Christi, Texas; three sisters, Lydia Rangel (Jaime) Saenz of Carrizo Springs, Texas, San Juanita Rangel (Ambrosio) Martinez, both of Carrizo Springs, Texas, and Raquel Rangel (Jesus) Canales of Alice, Texas; two grandsons and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Chapel A, Ruben M. Garcia and Sons Funeral Services. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

ALICE, Texas - The Rev. George V. Leal, 54, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at his residence following a sudden illness.
He was a minister of the Gospel. He was born to Erineo and Albesa Leal on September 9, 1952 in Alice, Texas.
Survivors include his son, Isreal (Roxanne) Molina III of Alice, Texas; daughter, Luz (Juan Pablo) Vasquez of Alice, Texas; mother, Albesa Leal of Alice, Texas; brother, Luz (Gloria) Leal of Laredo, Texas; and grandchildren, Promise Lynette Molina, Genesis Elena Molina, and Eli Gabriel Vasquez, all of Alice, Texas, and Andrea Gabreilla Vasquez.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas. Burial will follow in the New Collins Cemetery.
