BENAVIDES, Texas - Guadalupe S. "Lupita" Viera, 69, a lifetime resident of Benavides, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in a Laredo, Texas, hospital after a sudden illness.
She enjoyed spending time with her family cooking and barbecuing and being outdoors; she also enjoyed dancing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, who will be sadly missed by all her family. She devoted her life to taking care of others.
She was preceded in death by her father, Basilio Sanchez; and two sisters, Ofelia Charo and Umbelina Hinojosa.
Survivors include her husband, Estevan "Chato" Viera of Benavides, Texas; her seven children, Cynthia Viera of Benavides, Juan Estevan (Elizabeth) Viera of Premont, Texas, Dubelza "Dubbie" (Juan) Bazan of Benavides, Jaime "Bimbo" (Christine) Viera of Realitos, Texas, Mario (Sandra) Viera of Benavides, Arnold (Claudine) Viera of Laredo, Texas and Lynnora (John) Everett of Benavides, Texas; her mother, Basilia V. Sanchez of Benavides, Texas; her sister, Yolanda (Leo) Aguirre of Orange Grove, Texas; her brothers, Oscar (Herlinda) Sanchez, Ovidio (Elda) Sanchez, Rogelio (Mary Lou) Sanchez and Octavio (Dora) Sanchez, all of Benavides, Texas; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Vigil of the deceased and Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Benavides, Texas with Father Andrew Hejdak as celebrant.
Burial followed at the Benavides Cemetery in Benavides, Texas.
