ALICE, Texas - Hector Mario Garza, 52, died June 15, 2007 at his residence after a short illness. He was a graduate of Alice High School, Class of 1973, and also a graduate of Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. He was presently employed with Dorsal Service. Hector Mario enjoyed golf, dancing, bowling and he loved gathering with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Felipe Salinas Garza.

He is survived by his daughter, Angelica Maria Trevino of San Antonio, Texas; his mother, Dora G. Garza of Alice, Texas; five brothers, Luis Felipe (Paula) Garza of Sand Lake, Mich., Humberto (Elfida) Garza of Alice, Texas, Javier Garza of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mauricio Rene (Paula) Garza and Roel (Terry) Garza, both of Alice, Texas; two sisters, Aida (Demencio) Ybarra Jr. of Alice, Texas, and Maria Antoniotta (Corando) Chavera of Katy, Texas; a special niece, Laura (Ruben) Carpentier of Alice, Texas; two aunts and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2007, at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in Alice with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice. Burial will follow at Old Collins Cemetery in Alice, Texas.

ALICE, Texas - Miguel Perez, 81, a lifelong resident of Alice, Texas, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 in his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was born July 27, 1925 in Realitos, Texas. He retired as a foreman at Knolle Jersey Farm and oil field.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mauro and Manuela Cornejo Perez; two brothers, Mauro and Juan Perez; two sons, Gilberto and Jesus Perez; and one granddaughter, Casey Garza.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Santos C. Perez; three sons, Juan Perez, Miguel Perez Jr. and Ruben Perez, all of Alice; four daughters, Amelia Munoz, Graciela (Tony) Munoz, San Juanita Cardenas and Diana Garza, all of Alice; two brothers, Jose (Vicenta) Perez of Houston, Texas, and Polo (Lupe) Perez of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Jesusa (Ramon) Carpienter of Alice and Ester Alaniz of Orange Grove, Texas, a sister-in-law, Altagracia Munoz Perez of Sandia, Texas; 37 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 with a Rosary to recited at 7 p.m. that evening at Roberson Funeral Home in Alice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at St. Joseph Church with burial following at New Collins Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Ruben Perez Jr., Jose Cardenas, Marcos Garza, Johnny Perez, Jesse Munoz, Joseph Munoz, Gilberto Perez Jr., Jesus Cardenas, Jaime Perez and Sergio Perez.

Rodriguez

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Maria "Gila" Rodriguez, 91, a long time resident of San Diego, Texas, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 in a San Diego nursing home after a long illness. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church, and was retired from the Senior Texas Employment Program. Gila operated a hamburger stand across the Archie Parr Elementary along with her sister, Chonita Rodriguez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dimas and Concepcion Rodriguez; four sisters, Roberta Chapa, Beatriz Rodriguez, Paula Canales, and Concepcion "Chonita" Rodriguez; and a brother, Damas Rodriguez.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation was held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial followed at the Victor Gonzalez Cemetery in Rios, Texas.
