Alaniz

SAN DIEGO, Texas – Maria R. “Cuquita” Alaniz, 90, passed away on April 2, 2008 in an Alice hospital. She was a homemaker. She was one of the Seven Sisters that lived in the Seven Sisters Community, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Refugio Jr. and Amelia Serna; her husband, Jose Alaniz; and one daughter, Yolanda Alaniz.

Survivors include two brothers, Enrique Serna of Austin, Texas, Armando Serna of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Adela Knight and Juanita Valerio, both of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary recited that evening. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church and burial followed at the San Diego Cemetery.

Ruiz

SAN DIEGO – Carlos M. Ruiz, 65, passed away April 4, 2008 in a San Antonio hospital. He was a graduate of Benavides High School and Texas A&I University. He was a United State Army veteran and worked for the Texas Department of Human Services in San Diego for 25 years. He enjoyed his retirement and a was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosabella Garcia Ruiz.

Survivors include one son, Raul E. Ruiz of San Antonio; two brothers, Raul (Nellina) Ruiz Jr. of Hebbronville and Ramiro (Norma) Ruiz of Sharyland, Texas; one sister, Maria Isabel (Chris)?Benavides of Concepcion, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Mauro P. ?Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego with burial at La Esperanza Ranch Cemetery in San Jose, Texas, with military graveside services by the local VFW Post 8931 and the United Veterans Burial Association of Alice.
