Anastacio “Chacho” Hinojosa, 72, of Waco passed away Tuesday April 29, 2008 at his residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday May 1, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Timothy Vaverek officiating.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Bellmead Funeral Home with visitation to follow.
Hinojosa was born June 14, 1935 in Falfurrias, Texas, to Severo and Ofilia (Saenz) Hinojosa.
He was raised in Hebbronville, Texas, and later moved to Alice, Texas, where he met and married Viola Gallegos on January 27, 1957.
They moved their five children to the Waco area where he was on the Northcrest City Council and later became Mayor.
He owned and operated Ed’s Truck Stop and the Shady Rest RV Park.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Viola Hinojosa; children, Belinda (John) Meier, Mike (Tammy) Hinojosa, Cindy (David) Hammons, Omar Hinojosa and Joel (Stacey) Hinojosa; sisters, Elva Galloway and Elda Venecia; brother, Severo H. Hinojosa; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the American Diabetes Association and St. Joseph Catholic Church of Waco.
