FREER, Texas – Myrtle L. Bigley, 83, a lifelong resident of Freer, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in an Alice hospital after a short illness. She was a Freer High School graduate of the class of 1943 and served in the annual staff in 1943, Football Sweetheart 1943, Band member 1939 through 1943, Most Beautiful 1943, Coronation 1939, Citizenship Club 1942 and Band Secretary 1943. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, dominoes and traveling with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Lamont Bigley, her parents Authur Allen and Ruth Winters, two sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by three sons, Otto M. (Aurora) Winters of Corpus Christi, Texas, Phillip Wayne (Grace) Rogers of Halletsville, Texas, Thomas Dwayne (Debbie) Bigley of Freer, Texas; her nieces, Frances Lynn Watson, Christie Norwood, Karen Cox; her nephew, Jim Keys; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-niece, six great-nephews and numerous friends.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2008 at Garza Funeral Home Chapel in Freer, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. that day, with Brother Tim Walshe officiating. Burial will follow at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas.
