SAN DIEGO, Texas - Jovita G. Longoria, 82, a long time resident of San Diego, Texas, went to her eternal rest on Sunday, November 18, 2007 in a San Diego nursing home after a long illness.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Dolores Garcia; and by four brothers, Jesus, Juventino, Julian and Jose Arnoldo Garcia.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jose L. Longoria of San Diego, Texas; her two sons, Armando (Rose) Longoria of Houston, Texas, and Jose Javier (Connie) Longoria of San Diego, Texas; her daughters, Elva (Jose Arnoldo) Rodriguez of San Diego, Texas, Sylvia (Rene) Garcia of Alice, Texas and Belinda Perez of San Diego, Texas; two sisters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice, Texas.

VICTORIA, Texas - John Umphres, 74, of Victoria, Texas, passed away November 14, 2007. He was born December 18, 1932 in George West to the late John and Winnie Umphres. He was a retired oilfield worker, veteran of the U. S. Army and a Batpist.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; sons, Gerald Umphres, Bobby (wife Sandy) Umphres; daughter Cathy (Gary) Glover; a sister, Wilma Hale; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 16, 23007 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria with Pastor Gary R. Garrison officiating.
