Garza

GUAJILLO, Texas - Erasmo "El Gringo" Garza, 79, passed away November 10, 2007 at an Alice hospital after a long illness. Erasmo was retired from the San Diego Independent School District after 30 years of service as a custodian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilberto and Enecina Ruiz Garza; and three brothers Enrique, Conrado, and Carlos Garza.

Survivors include his: wife, Maria M. Garza of Guajillo, Texas; three daughters, Lucia (Luis) Perez of Guajillo, Texas, Sylvia (Arturo) Garcia and Melissa (Carlos) Lopez, both of Alice, Texas; two brothers, Gilberto (Lydia) Garza Jr., and Humberto (Esperanza) Garza, both of Pasadena, Texas; a sister, Esperanza Cuevas of Alice, Texas; four grandchildren, Dawnee Rae Garcia, Cesar Erasmo Garcia, Carlos Lopez and Christa Renee Lopez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, November 12, 2007 at 7 p.m. with visitations starting at 3 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Alice, Texas.

Hallemann

ALICE, Texas - Nina Emma Wolf Hallemann, 89, passed away November 10, 2007 at her home in Alice. She was born November 25, 1918 in Cuero, Texas, to Felix and Adelia Wolf. In 1923 the family moved to Orange Grove where she and her sister Alarie grew up on the family farm. The family attended the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orange Grove. Nina graduated from Orange Grove High School in 1936. On March 5, 1941, she married Victor Hallemann. They were married for 56 years until his death in November of 1997. Alice became their permanent home in 1949. She was active in the Jim Wells County Home Demonstration Club for several years. She was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice from 1949 to 2007. Nina was a member of the Women of the Church, a former officer and active member of the Dorcas Circle, an active member of the Quilting Group and an honorary member of the Altar Guild.

She is survived by her children, Vicky Reinke of Laurel, Md., Mardella (Alvin) Laskowski of Alice and Duane Hallemann of Corpus Christi, Texas; her grandchildren, Brett (Anne) Reinke, Sandra Laskowski and Neil (Tania) Laskowski; her sisters-in-law, Emma Lea Hallemann, Rosicle Hallemann and Adeline Morrise; many nieces and nephews and her very special caretakers, Elva Cabrara, Margie Estrada and Elida Charles.

Visitation was Sunday, November 11, 2007 from 2 to 9 p.m. and will be Monday, November 12, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1400 N. Texas Blvd., Alice, Texas, 78332.

PREMONT, Texas - Maria Isabel Lopez, 72, passed away Friday, November 9, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Paula H. Munoz; three brothers, Pedro, Valentine and Jesus Munoz; and two sisters, Eva Villanueva and Santos Chavez.

Survivors include her husband, Evelisario Lopez of Premont, Texas; three sons, Jose (Diana) Lopez of Alice, Texas, Rene (Cathy) Lopez of McAllen, Texas, and Magdaleno (Hortencia) Munoz of Chicago, Ill.; four daughters, Mari (Eddie) Luera of Beeville, Texas, Maria R. (Ernesto) Perez of Houston, Texas, Blanca (Edward) Cortez of Edinburg, Texas, and Maria De Jesus (Jose Luis) Salinas of Weslaco, Texas; one brother, Manuel (Emma) Munoz of Reynosa, Tamp., Mexico; one sister, Maria Montelongo of Lyford, Texas; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2007 at Alaniz Funeral Home of Falfurrias. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Premont with burial following at the Premont Cemetery.

Muniz

FALFURRIAS, Texas - Adelfino B. Muniz, 73, passed away November 9, 2007 at his residence in Falfurrias. He was preceded in death by his parents, Octavio and Jesusa Muniz; and by one brother, Andres Muniz.

Survivors include his wife, Guadalupe Muniz of Falfurrias, Texas; three daughters, Maria Meza of Corpus Christi, Texas, Laura (Alejandro) Carbajal of Falfurrias, Texas; Teresa (Adrian) Gonzalez of Falfurrias; one brother, Antonio (Delia) Muniz of Falfurrias, Texas; and 18 grandchildren.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Alaniz Funeral Home of Falfurrias. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias with interment following at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.
