ALICE, Texas - Julia Reyes Garcia, 92, died October 25, 2007 at a local hospital after a brief illness. She was born January 10, 1915, to Marcos and Cruz Reyes in Kingsville, Texas. She was the owner of Julia's Grocery and Mkt. for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Gilbert (Mary), Amado and Johnny Reyes; her sisters, Lorenza (Lino Sr.) Andrade, Olivia (Ross) Cuellar, Ester (Polo) Rangel, Minerrva (Gustavo) Trevino; and a granddaughter, Melanie Melissa Martinez.

Survivors include a daughter, Nelda (Orlando) Martinez of Alice; three grandsons, Matthew Martinez of Alice, Marc Andrew Martinez of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Jordan Lee Martinez of Alice; and a sister, Ernestina (Sterling) Maresch of Alice.

She was blessed with a special niece and nephew, Sylvia (Michael) Cullender and Gustavo Trevino Jr., along with many other nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2007 at the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in Alice. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, with burial following at Roberson-Collins Cemetery in Alice.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Leon High, 87, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a resident of Alice, Texas, for 59 years. He retired as a machinist from Dixie Iron Works. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WW II, in which he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars during the Pacific Asiatic Theater. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the SB Mosser Lodge #912 in Alice, Texas.

He was avidly loyal to the Alice Coyotes of Alice High School for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann High.

Survivors include his three daughters, Jackie High Jennings, Judy (Skip) Stanford and Jerry Lynn (Larry) Bailey, his son, David (Wendy) High; two brothers, Kenneth (Jan) High and Connie Mac (Pat) High; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be at 12 noon until service time on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at the Seaside Reid Chapel in Corpus Christi. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Masonic Services on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi.
