ALICE, Texas - Richard M. Bazan, 90, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ, Sunday, October 21, 2007.

Born in Beeville, Texas, and a resident of Alice, Texas, for 62 years; Richard was a self-employed photographer and a salesman for Rushing and Gonzalez for 37 years and a Veteran of the U.S. Army-Air Force in which he served his country during WWII. He was also a very active member of The St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish, a member of The Centro del Sagrado Corazon Mutualistas, and a charter member of The Knights of Columbus Council #3169 and Trustee of the 4th Degree.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Octabiano and Rosa Munoz Bazan; and a sister, Olivia Molina.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Louise Reyna Bazan of Alice, Texas; two daughters, Susan L. (Jorge) Garza of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Rose Emily (Adrian) Resendez of Alice, Texas; grandchildren, Rick (Kim) Garza, Emily (Craig) Malorzo, Michael Garza, Kristina Garza, Adrian Daniel (Mari Serna) Resendez and Richard Robert Resendez; great-grandchildren, Roxanne (Keith) Mutz, Erick Garza, Ava Malorzo and Carolina Resendez; four sisters, Esther Contreras, Beatrice Trevino, Rachel Torres and Blasa Bazan, all of Victoria, Texas.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, October 26, 2007 also at St. Joseph Catholic Church with military burial conducted by The United Veterans Burial Association of Alice at New Collins Cemetery.

Garza

ALICE, Texas - Aniceta M. Garza, 80, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007 in an Alice hospital after an illness. Born in Concepcion, Texas, she was a resident of Alice, Texas, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irineo Z. Garza; a son, Baldemar Garza; and a brother, Taurino Muguia.

Survivors include three daughters, Anita (Ram—n) Nava of Alice, Texas, Irene Garcia of Orange Grove. Texas, and Maria Elena (Alfredo) Rogers of Rowlette, Texas; three sons, Alejo (Anna) Garza of Orange Grove, Texas, Hector (Leticia) Garza and Leonel Garza of Alice, Texas; two sisters, Maria A. Morales and Malin Mendoza both of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Joe D. Munguia and Agustin R. Munguia, both of San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Walker-Mora Funeral Home Chapel in Alice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Alice with burial following at New Collins Cemetery-Alice.

Olvera

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Jose A. "Pepe" Olvera, 78, passed away October 22, 2007 in an Alice nursing center. Jose was a Charter Member of the Alice Evening Lions Club and served in the capacity of President. He was also President of the American Federation of Government Employees during his employment with the Kingsville Naval Air Station. Joe fought for the rights of the Civil Service Employees. He was a Disabled Army Veteran and retired with 37 years of service as a Budget Analyst.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo and Aurora Aleman Olvera; his first wife, Solia R. Olvera; one sister, Oralia Olvera; and one brother: Rodolfo Olvera Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Ester N. Olvera of Alice, Texas; one son, Jose O. (Gloria) Olvera of Laredo, Texas; three stepsons, Pablo (Lynann) Longoria and Ricardo (Sheri) Longoria, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Jose Longoria of Premont, Texas; one stepdaughter, Adele (Tom) Deaton of Brownfield, Texas; four brothers, Guillermo "Willie" Olvera and Roberto (Raquel) Olvera, both of San Antonio, Texas, Enrique (Josie) Olvera of Alice, Texas, and Ruben (Sylvia) Olvera of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Oralia (Ben) Flores and Lydia Olvera, both of San Diego, Texas; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2007 at St. Frances de Paula Catholic Church and burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery.
