ALICE - Kristian "Andy" Andersen, 92, passed away December 16, 2007 at his home. He was born February 7, 1915 in Give, Denmark, to Jorgen and Johanne Andersen. He served in the Danish Army from 1931 to 1933. Andy came to the United States in 1938, from Denmark to Grand Central Station New York, by ship. From New York, he traveled to Telluride, Colo., to work in a gold mine. He and his family moved to South Texas in March of 1943. He was a pipeline mechanic for Humble Oil Company until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rebecca Dudney Andersen; a daughter, Sarah Andersen; a grandson, Kristian Chiles Andersen; four sisters and a brother.

Survivors include two daughters, Johanne (Addison) Graham of Houston and Cecile (Mike) Gibbs of San Antonio; two sons, Eric (Melba) Andersen of Alice and Kristian J. (Betty) Andersen of San Antonio; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Cremation will follow.

PREMONT, Texas - Birdie "Louise" Friesen went to her eternal home Monday, December 17, 2007. She was born on March 23, 1929 in Falfurrias, Texas, to Gene and Lela Wright. After graduation from Falfurrias High School she was a clinic nurse/secretary for Drs. Penly and Wilder until she married her husband, John P. Friesen, on July 15, 1955 in Premont, Texas. She spent the rest of her life as a farm and ranch wife, loving and caring for her husband John and their daughter Deborah, and her two granddaughters, Christina and Shelley. Her hospitality was extended to all those who worked on the ranch, all family members and friends who visited and knew her as a fabulous cook. She also dedicated her time by serving on the La Gloria ISD School Board for many years. In addition, she shared many friendships and enjoyed activities with others as a member of the Falfurrias Community Choir and the Premont Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John P. Friesen; granddaughter, Shelley Anne Siemonsma; and a sister, Claudia Shearer.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah E. (David) Siemonsma of Premont, Texas; a granddaughter, Christina S. (Santiago) Recio of Premont, Texas; a brother, Mike Wright of Dilley, Texas; four sisters, Nell Lewis of Arlington, Texas, Jeanie Wilkinson of Premont, Texas, Margaret Jeffers of Harlingen, Texas, and Olene Penner of Kingsburg, Calif.

A gentle, quiet and faithful person, she will be missed greatly and remembered dearly.

BENAVIDES, Texas - Arcadio Garcia Jr., 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 in a Kingsville nursing center. He was born to Arcadio Sr. and Petra V. Garcia in Laredo, Texas. Early in life, he became a resident of Benavides, Texas. He was married to his wife, Juanita, for 54 years. He lived for his family and instilled his strong work ethic, love and values in his children and grandsons. A World War II veteran, he proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Forces. After his tour of duty, he returned home where he started his produce business, the Garcia Egg Co., devoting more than 48 years of dedicated service to many of his lifelong clients. He gave many hours of his time to serve his church, Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church, his community and other activities. As a member and officer of the Sociedad Catolica Mutualista and Knights of Columbus, he was a very active fundraiser for his parish. In 1976 and 1984, he was recognized by the Mutualistas for his outstanding commitment to service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8585 and he served as Duval County Commissioner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita G. Garcia; four sisters, Maria Luisa Brewster, Juana G. Donavan, Genoveva Maldonado and Petra Escutia; one brother, Eudelia Garcia; and a daughter-in-law.

Survivors include his sons, Arcadio Garcia III of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Hector Mario (Maricela) Garcia of Kingsville, Texas; his daughter, Sylvia Garcia of Garland, Texas; his brother, Homero I. (Elena) Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Trinidad Vera and Belia Gonzalez, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; two grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.

ALICE, Texas - Elida Garcia, 79, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at her residence following a long illness. She was a waitress with Dena's Restaurant for many years. She was born to Eustacio and Ramona Garza on October 8, 1928 in Taft, Texas. She was raised in Hebbronville, Texas, before making her lifelong home in Alice, Texas.

Survivors include a son, Servando L. Garcia Jr. of Alice, Texas; two daughters, Adelina (Alfonso) Esparza of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Melita (Rico) Cantu of Alice, Texas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Lucy Garcia, 92, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007 at her residence. She was born on August 24, 1915 in Gruene, Texas. She married Albino Garcia of San Diego, Texas. The couple lived in California for more than 35 years before returning to South Texas. She lived in Corpus Christi before moving to San Antonio with her niece. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 14, 1999; her parents, Macario and Teresita (Tamez) Machorro; her brother, Joe Machorro, of Houston, Texas; sisters, Antonia Machorro (Rafael) Cortes and Elvira Machorro (Luciano) Posada.

Survivors include her five sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, six generations of nieces and nephews, her godson and numerous cousins and friends. She was a nanny and housekeeper for Abelardo and Thelma Garza for more than 20 years and retired as a home health provider after 10 years of employment.

ALICE, Texas - Elena P/rez Guerra entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 16, 2007, peacefully at home in the company of family and her husband, Rodolfo G. Guerra. Elena was the last surviving child of Pablo P/rez and Concepcion "Mama Chonita" Garza P/rez, having been born at their "Rancho Los Reales" on April 20, 1920, near ALice, Texas.

Elena was preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law, Simplicio M. Guerra and Marta Gonzalez Guerra; by her siblings, Emilia P. Villarreal, Ernesto P/rez, Eliza P. Garcia, Elida P. Garcia, Pablo P/rez Jr. and Elia Rios; and also by cousins whe were reared alongside her at "Los Reales," Maria Pena, Aurora Rodriguez, Aurelia Lozano and Agustin Garza.

In addition to her husband, Rodolfo, Elena is survived by Andrea Canales (the late Ernesto) P/rez; and by Rodolfo's sisters, Olivia Guerra (Joe B.) Vela and Virginia Guerra (the late Oscar) Araiza. Elena is survived by all of her children, Maria Cecilia (Amancio Jr.) Chapa, Roberto (Lillian Tobin) Guerra, Rene (Imelda Carrasco) Guerra, R. David (Edna Rodriguez) Guerra, and Celina Isabel (Jesse) Buentello; and by 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Frances Nesloney Hoelscher; parents, Herbert and Regina Hoelscher; two brothers, Walter Hoelscher and Jerome Hoelscher; and two sisters, Leona Hoelscher and Tina McAdams.

He is survived by three sons, Kenneth (Melody) Hoelscher, Mark (Brenda) Hoelscher and Donald Hoelscher; three daughters, Janel (J.D. She previously worked for Dr. Hunstead's office as the receptionist.

KINGSVILLE, Texas - Rudolfo Basaldua Ramirez-Rodriguez went with the Lord on December 3, 2007. Rudy was a retired dispatcher for the City of Robstown from 1960 to 1986 and helped dispatch also for Nueces County, D. P. S. using telegraph communications machines for emergency personnel in the surrounding areas of Coastal Bend. He was preceeded in death by his father, Jose G. Rodriguez; mother, Maria Basaldua Rodriguez; brothers, Manuel Ramirez and Joe Ramirez; and sisters, Amelia and Carolina.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Maria Sonya (Joel) Rodriguez-Saenz of Kingsville, Texas; sisters, Matilde (Leon) Rodriguez-Kunetka, and Yolanda Rodriguez-Gary, both of Yoakum, Texas; brother, Joe Rodriguez Jr. of Yoakum, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2007 from 4 to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at HoImgreen Mortuary in Alice. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the San Diego Cemetery.

ALICE, Texas - Barbarita D. Saenz, 73, passed away December 20, 2007 in a Corpus Christi Hospital. She was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Manuelita Dimas and a brother.

Survivors include her husband, Roel C. Saenz Sr. of Alice, Texas; two sons, Carlos Saenz of Victoria, Texas, and Roel C. (Diana) Saenz II of Rockwall, Texas; one stepson, Adan (Sylvia) Saenz of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Velma (Guadalupe) Cantu Jr. of Alice, Texas; one stepdaughter, Amelia (Federico) Hinojosa of Riverside, Calif.; three brothers, Arnulfo Dimas and Adolio Dimas, both of San Diego, Texas, and Jose Luis Dimas of Benavides, Texas; four sisters, Graciela Vela of Alice, Texas, Lamar Hernandez of Benavides, Texas, Zulema Saenz of Alice, Texas, and Belen Saavedra of McAllen, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice with a Rosary recited that evening at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and burial will follow at the New Collins Cemetery.

Sanchez

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Zeferina Sanchez, 97, passed away on December 16, 2007 in an Alice hospital. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Domingo Sanchez and a son; Mario Sanchez.

Survivors include five sons, Inocente (Elsa) Sanchez of Laredo, Texas, Leandro (Aurelia) Sanchez of San Diego, Texas, Estevan (Maricela) Sanchez of San Antonio, Texas, Jose Luis (Maria) Sanchez and Miquel Sanchez, both of San Diego, Texas; three gaughters, Juanita Soliz of San Antonio, Texas, and Estela (Juan) Garcia and Lucia (Margarito) Cabrera, both of Mexico; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at the Aquilles Serdan Cemetery in Ejido Aquilles Serdan, Mexico.

Trejo

ALICE, Texas - Leonel Octavio Trejo Jr., 26, died Saturday, December 15, 2007 from injuries received in an auto accident in Alice, Texas. He was currently employed by National Oil Well Services. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ester Alaniz, and his maternal aunt, Gracie Alaniz.

Survivors include his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Octavio Trejo of Alice, Texas; maternal grandfather, Chrisoforo Alaniz of San Diego, Texas; mother, Paulita Alaniz of San Diego, Texas; father, Leonel O. (Argelia Lelly) Trejo of Alice, Texas; two sisters, Jessica Trejo and Danielle Ortegon, both of Alice, Texas; one brother, Patrick (Erika Razo) Thomas of Alice, Texas; a niece, Kyrstin Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; two uncles, Chris (Dolores) Alaniz and Ruben (Esmeralda) Trejo, both of Alice; three aunts, Hilda (Jerry) Fritzler and Gloria Vera, both of Alice, Texas, and Jolly (Carlos) Valadez of Palito Blanco, Texas; and numerous cousins, family and friends; all who deeply loved him.

Anyone who knew Leo, knew how kind-hearted he was toward everyone. His ability to make people laugh and his love for life will be missed.

A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Alice, Texas. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the service. Pallbearers will be Chris Alaniz Jr., Richard Ray Trejo, Jorge Orozco, Robert Daniel Trejo, Javier Vera, Frank Trejo, Ruben James Trejo and David A. Rondon.

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Flo Wilson, 94, passed away on December 19, 2007 in a Bedford, Texas, hospital after a long illness. She was a retired Cosmetologist Instructor from the San Diego ISD after many years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Benita Fernandez; and one son, Luis De Hoyos.

Survivors include her two sons, Mark (Michelle) DeHoyos of Haslet, Texas, and Louis Anthony (Jen) Barton of Keene, N.H.; one daughter, Dolores (Jack) Hyde of Southwest Ranches, Fla.; one sister, Emerida Fernandez of Corpus Christi, Texas; nine grandchildren, Micayla, Madison, Tanya Martinez, Emily Garcia, Kelly Ibanez, Mark Ibanez, Victoria Hyde, Jack Hyde and Louis Anthony; seven great-grandchildren, Briana, Madeline, DyLan, Addison, Edan, Mason and Elyssa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
