Geronimo "Jerry" Gonzales, 60, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007.
He was born on May 11, 1947 in Robstown to Jose and Antonia Salinas Gonzales. He was employed for 22 years at the Hector P. Garcia U.S. Post Office. He served his country during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart. He was also listed in the South Texas Hero Publication. He enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to music and sharing poems with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Antonia Gonzales; his brother, Amador Gonzales; sister-in-law, Gloria Gonzales; paternal grandparents, Florentino and Inocensia Gonzales; maternal grandparents, Jose and Paz Salinas.
He is survived by three daughters: Veronica Gonzales and Victoria Gonzales, both of Houston, Amanda (Jimmy) Gutierrez of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Michaela (Lowell) Pater and Julia (Nieves) Montalvo both of Corpus Christi; two brothers: Celedonio Gonzales and Francisco (Sylvia) Gonzales both of Corpus Christi, two grandchildren, Alexander Gutierrez and Dominic Gutierrez both of Corpus Christi, and the mother of his children, Estella Gonzales of Corpus Christi.
A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel in Robstown. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Interment with military honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
Pallbearers will be Robert Barrera, Ernie Gomez, Ramon Fuentes, Robert Mendiola, Derrel Puckett and Jimmy Zamora.
