Susie M. Flores, 78, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Monday, October 1, 2007 at La Paloma Nursing Home surrounded by her children after a short illness.

She was born May 19, 1929 in Alice. A former employee of Hospitality House for more than 20 years, Flores loved to cook, sew and watch novelas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benito R. Flores; three sisters, Maria Zulema Torres, Delfe Barrera and Hattie Pena; and three brothers, William Morgan Jr., Frank Morgan and Lee Morgan Sr.

She is survived by five sons, Benito (Lupita) Flores Jr. of Alice, Ernesto (Esperanza) Flores of Alice, Hector Flores of Portland, Arturo (Elena) Flores of Alice and Robert (Aurora Gonzalez) Flores of Alice; six daughters, Yolanda (Ruben) Zuniga of San Diego, Texas, Diana (Manuel) Garza, Dalia (Domingo) Reyna, Angie Palos (Robert Davila) Alice, Mary Ann Flores (Rick Rocha) and Belinda Flores (Juan Aguilar), all of Alice; 29 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at Ruben M. Garcia and Sons Funeral Services, with Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at San Diego Cemetery.

Miss Otila Saenz Garcia, 89, died Saturday, September 20, 2007 in a San Diego nursing home after an illness.

Born in Hebbronville, Texas, she was a resident of Alice and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Encarnacion and Otila Saenz Garcia, and a brother, Edmundo Garcia Sr.

She is survived by a sister, Alicia G. (Fidelio) Salinas of Alice, Texas, and nieces and nephews, Fidelio Salinas Jr., of Alice, Texas, Alma (Dr. Tom) Garcia of Houston, Texas, Hector (Tabitha) Salinas of San Antonio, Texas, Irma (David) Holtcamp of Los Alamos, N.M., Edmundo (Dolores) Garcia Jr., Irene (James) Gardner and Cindy Turner, all of Houston, Texas.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m, Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at Walker-Mora Funeral Home Chapel in Alice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice with burial to follow at Barranco Blanco Cemetery FM 329 in Alice, Texas.

OAK HARBOR, Wash. - Shirley Page McLeod, 49, passed away September 30, 2007 in a Seattle, Wash., hospital after a long battle with cancer.

She was born September 28, 1959 in Alice. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.O. "Babe" and Jamie Page.

Survivors include her husband, Andy McLeod; two sons, Christopher and Chuck, all of Oak Harbor; two brothers, Bo (Rosalie) Page of Alice and Tommy (Nancy) Elison of Dallas; and one sister, Doris (Carl) Ferguson of La Porte, Texas.

McLeod will be laid to rest near her parents in Groesbeck, Texas.

BENAVIDES - Elena M. Yzaguirre, 84, a lifelong resident of Benavides, Texas, died September 30, 2007. She was a teacher with Benavides ISD for 35 years. She was Catholic and a member of the Santa Rosa de Lima parish in Benavides.

Born June 8, 1923, Yzaguirre was raised in Laredo and Benavides. She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio. Upon graduating from college, she married and spent the rest of her life as a teacher, mother and grandmother in Benavides. She became ill of Alzheimer's disease in 1999 and moved to San Antonio where she resided until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Domitilia Morales; and her husband, Raul Yzaguirre.

She is survived by her three children, Dickie (Alma) Yzaguirre of San Antonio, Zaida A. Yzaguirre of San Antonio and Robert (Amanda) Yzaguirre of Houston and four grandchildren.

A Rosary will be prayed at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007. Funeral services and Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Santa Rosa de Lima Church in Benavides.

Burial will follow at Benavides Cemetery.
