SAN DIEGO, Texas - Luis G. Garcia, 73, passed away November 19, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was a retired employee of the Alice Grain Elevators and was a rancher all of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Isabel Garcia; and by one sister, Rosabella G. Ruiz.
Survivors include his wife, Hortencia G. Garcia of San Diego, Texas; two sons, Marco Luis (Margaret) Garcia of San Diego, Texas, and Mario Lee (Joyce) Garcia of Alice, Texas; one brother, Eduardo (Elena) Garcia Jr. of San Diego, Texas; one sister, Ester Garcia of San Diego, Texas; two granddaughters, Ariana Garcia and Athena Garcia, both of San Diego, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church and burial followed at La Esperanza Ranch Cemetery.

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Jovita G. Longoria, 82, a long time resident of San Diego, Texas, went to her eternal rest on Sunday, November 18, 2007 in a San Diego nursing home after a long illness.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Dolores Garcia; and by four brothers, Jesus, Juventino, Julian and Jose Arnoldo Garcia.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jose L. Longoria of San Diego, Texas; her two sons, Armando (Rose) Longoria of Houston, Texas, and Jose Javier (Connie) Longoria of San Diego, Texas; her daughters, Elva (Jose Arnoldo) Rodriguez of San Diego, Texas, Sylvia (Rene) Garcia of Alice, Texas and Belinda Perez of San Diego, Texas; two sisters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial followed at the Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice, Texas.

FREER - Barbara E. "Bobby" Richardson, 62, a resident of Freer, Texas, for more than 17 years passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2007 after a short illness.
She was formerly employed with Secords Grocery for more than two years, and was always willing to help the Freer Volunteer Fire Dept. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for her jalapeno cornbread, which she specialized in. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister that will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Martha Sue Havard.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 43 years of marriage, Meredith W. Richardson of Freer, Texas; her children, Cynthia (Ronald) Braddy of La Vernia, Texas, Ronald Richardson of Laredo, Texas, Meredith (Luis Rene) Guerrero, and Michael and Thomas Richardson, all of Freer, Texas; her sister, Liddie Childres of Batson, Texas; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas, with a prayer services at 6 p.m. that evening with Pastor George Barcus.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Batson Prairie Cemetery in Batson, Texas.
