SPRING, Texas - Henry William Nortman, 76, a resident of Spring, Texas, died on November 20, 2007 after a brief illness. He was born in Orange Grove, Texas, on January 3, 1931 to William Joseph Nortman and Josephine Tschoepe Nortman. He grew up in Alice, Texas, graduated from Alice High School and attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville. He worked in the oil industry and retired from Phillips Petroleum in 1993. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He married his wife of 51 years, Janis Lee Palmero, on September 2, 1956. Prior to moving to Spring, Texas, this year, the couple had lived in Youngsville, La., for 16 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Willie Mae Gault.
Survivors include his wife, Janis Nortman of Spring; daughters Henri-Ann Nortman of Wharton, Texas, Donna (Mike) Richardson of Friendswood, Texas, and Joy (Mike) Andre of Houston, Texas; sons William Dale Nortman of Nederland, Texas, and Michael (Aurora) Nortman of Port Neches, Texas, a brother, Jerome (Deanna) Nortman of DeQuincy, La.; 11 grandchildren, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, a special cousin and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and hundreds of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007 at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 2601 Spring Stuebner Rd., Spring, Texas, 77389. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Habitat for Humanity www.habitat.org/donations.
